Activities in the vicinity of the campsite
Cycling and walking tours in the Vendée
In the Vendée, you have many leisure activities and for all ages.
If you like to go cycling or walking, there are trails adapted to allow everyone to walk in the marshes, the forest.
We recommend the forêt domaniale du pays des Olonnes with its biodiversity, its well laid out and secure tracks to avoid mixing pedestrians, cyclists and cars. You can walk along the beaches while discovering the beautiful viewpoints of the Vendée coast.
Camping near the Vendée Islands
During your holiday in the Vendée, we advise you to visit the island of Noirmoutier with its passage du Gois. This passage is covered at high tide and uncovered at low tide. Don’t panic, you won’t get stuck on the island at high tide, as a bridge allows you to reach the mainland. This island has managed to keep wild coasts. You will be enchanted by the nature spirit of the island when you see the small beach houses especially on the plage des Dames, at Bois de la chaise.
You can also get to the island of Yeu, by taking a mini cruise by boat. The island is preserved, it has kept all its charm and its authenticity. We recommend renting bikes, and touring the island by going to the Port de la Meule for a picnic. You’ll have a bird’s eye view of the ocean.
Camping near the beaches of Les Sables-d’Olonne
A unavoidable during your holidays on the Vendée coast: the beaches.
They are diverse and varied. Everyone will have their favourite. Some will want a beach for farniente and relaxation. Others will want to practice water sports such as on the beach of Tanchet, The great beach of the Sables d’Olonnes or the beach of Granges.
For the children, we recommend the Paracou beach as it is full of seawater puddles, so the sweeties can discover the aquatic fauna and flora of the sea water. They will have plenty of memories to tell their friends.
Ideas for attractions around the campsite
Throughout your stay, we will be able to advise you of many attractions such as the water parks, the bike rail or discover the salt marshes, go to the zoo, visit an aquarium, do accrobranche, paintball, visit the castle of the adventurers, do the regional markets.
In Vendée, many activities will be proposed to you and we will be able to guide you throughout your holidays in order to organise your stay according to your expectations and desires. Because each person has particular expectations and at camping Les Logeries in Vendée we will do what is necessary to meet your requests.
Discovering the Poitevin marshes in the southern Vendée
Board a boat and let the boatman guide you. He will help you discover and listen to nature. He can even perform a magic trick by making fire on the water (yes, yes it is possible)
Escape to the butterfly island of Noirmoutier Island
Enter the greenhouse and you will be amazed by the colours of the flowers and butterflies. Let your eyes guide you. You will find the pleasure of zenitude in the face of such beauty.
A family adventure on the Vélorail in Commequiers
Get on a draisine and ride 10km. The challenge is to catch up with the one in front of you while observing the forest, the nature. Take turns to paddle and have a good time as a family all together. Remember to book your activity. There won’t be enough for everyone, this attraction is very popular.
Looking for a little thrill
Off to the Great Challenge, the largest tree climbing park in the world with 33 courses. Don’t panic, the accrobranche has different levels. Even the little ones from 2 years old can enjoy this activity.
You’ll have fun while outdoing yourself. You will be proud of yourself because you will have exceeded your limits and had fun at the same time. A great day ahead.
Discover the history of the Vendée
When you go to Vendée miniatures, you will discover the story of the life of a Vendée village during the 1900s.
This modelling is meticulous and fantastic to see. You will be enchanted by the precision given to the constructions, the clothing of the characters. You will listen to the owl hooting at dusk and the rooster crowing at dawn. You will be in another time for the duration of your visit.
The salt marshes of Olonne Island
The Vendée is famous for its salt and its salt marshes. During your holiday, this will be an opportunity to learn about the method of making salt. This visit to the marshes is fun and informative.
You will learn why the marshes are sometimes pink and the salt is grey. You may have the opportunity to taste samphire, a wild seaweed that tastes like a pickle. You can buy it. We recommend eating it with an omelette, to explode its flavours. You can also stock up on vanilla salt to eat with a good grilled meat or lemon salt ideal for eating with fish. You can feel your taste buds tingle.
A little jaunt among the animals of the zoo in Les Sables d’Olonne
This walk will introduce you to biodiversity and animal conservation. You’ll walk through the park among its 500 animals. There are animations throughout the day, such as the meals of the giraffes with their long necks or the penguins and many other species.
You like horses
You will have the opportunity to go on horseback rides. A riding school near the campsite will be able to take you for a ride and initiate you to horse riding. If you prefer to visit a stud farm, we recommend the one in La Roche sur Yon.
During the holidays activities are organised with the horses. You can also attend horse shows.
After all these activities a splash in the sea
We recommend the plage de Paracou or the grande plage in Les Sables d’Olonne, for a good family relaxation. You can introduce the children to the joys of water sports or simply make sandcastles.
Going to local markets
Simply walk the aisles of the markets with their local producers.
They will advise you and give you great recipe ideas. Like to start your meal, a préfou (typical Vendée garlic butter) then they will know how to give you the cooking time for a good barbecued Vendée ham accompanied by its mogettes or the preparation of marinated mussels. And for dessert, the long-awaited moment, a good slice of gâche, brioche or perhaps a slice of fion, and here you say to me in Vendéen dialect: “Qu’est-ce qu’ô lé’tcheu? translation: what is it?” and I answer you a slice of flan maraîchin. Bon appétit.
